Rose Pet project There's an old saying among actors that you never want to share a scene with kids or dogs, because you're sure to be upstaged. People generally not only want to watch children and canines, but they also want the best for them - safety, comfort, affection, fun activities and all that comes with being in loving homes. Anyone attending a recent agility course at Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center in Winchester would be able to see many of those goals being met through the center's Summer Youth Volunteer Program. Designed to give young area residents a chance to volunteer at the animal shelter and to learn about owning pets, the program has perks for participating animals as well. Getting the dogs out of kennels and around the company of humans in stimulating surroundings helps socialize the dogs and make them more adoptable, organizers say.
